The students, staff and parents of SERRIC celebrated the Sinhala Hindu New Year on 8th April 2018. Celebrations commenced with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp by Mrs. Anoma Fonseka and rituals such as boiling of milk, anointment of oil and worshipping elders were carried out to symbolize the various rituals of the new year. A dance depicting the Sinhala Hindu New Year and the folk games was performed by the students, teachers and assistants.
The students played in various games amidst the applause of all present and were later joined by staff members, parents and teachers.
Prizes were distributed to the winners by the Director and Officers of SERRIC and at the end of all celebrations a scrumptious table filled with New year sweets and food were laid out to be enjoyed by all present.
